About petaIMG
petaIMG was founded because I was tired of image hosting services that either have too many ads, require you to sign up, have a limit on their file size, don’t listen to you, or just don’t support the extension you want. We strive every day to overcome these fallacies in current image hosting sites, and hope this will set us apart from the competition.
Our basic principles include:
- Listen to the user. We don’t want to turn into these big companies where money only matters to them. Support is one of our utmost concerns.
- Support all image files. Since we’re not all the same, we don’t use the exact same extensions. With current support for over 30 extensions, you don’t have to worry that you won’t be able to upload the file.
- Optional sign up. Although we are currently working on a user control panel and login system, we will never require you to sign up to gain full access to our features. We hate sites where you have to supply your email address and remember your username and password just to upload an image.
- No file size limits. We currently do have a limit on images at 30MB, but this size keeps increasing and is mainly there to prevent users from uploading absurdly large image files to our servers. If you’d like to increase this size, we’ll be happy to listen (see principle # 1). I personally have never needed more than 2MB for a normal image file.
- Limited ads. All companies have to survive somehow, and on the internet it’s all about the ads. In our service, we have a very limited amount of ads on the homepage and no ads after that. We give you only a direct link to your file, and don’t prevent downloading or hotlinking for your convenience.
- Accessibility to all. There are so many browsers and devices to view webpages on these days, it’s hard to make everyone happy. With our valid HTML and CSS code across our website, and clean, compact code, you can be sure that you will be viewing our site just as the person next to you is.
